Drunken Sailor - The Salts

Sea Shanties have suddenly become trendy recently and the band that have always been one of the coolest exponents of the genre, The Salts, have just announced the release of a brand new single as well as a series of live dates. The single is an A Cappella version of a track that appeared on their critically acclaimed Brave album and it is probably the most famous shanty of them all. It's the classic Drunken Sailor and it was released on April 23rd with the live dates happening later in the year.

‘We obviously haven't been able to get together in the same room to record but we wanted to do something special so we all recorded our parts for the single remotely with Richard from the band performing his studio magic to create the finished track. It's something that has helped us stay in touch with each other during lockdown and now we can't wait until we can get together again in person and go out and play to everyone that has supported us over the years as well as playing to new people that may have discovered us for the first time’ says Brian Doran from The Salts

The Salts are one of the most exciting and energetic concepts around, performing original material alongside their own interpretations of traditional songs we all know and love. The band feature five seasoned musicians collectively performing a mixture of instruments as well as great harmonies and have been going down a storm at their theatre and festival shows. Their latest album, Brave, on Braccan Records has received rave reviews in the music press and has had radio plays around the world.
